When you login using the startkde script, a KFM process is spawned.
However, if it dies for some reason at a later point in time, other
KDE apps may complain.

You need to figure out why KFM is crashing. See if a core file is lying
around in your directory. If so, load it into gdb and try to get a stack
trace and send mail or make a posting to comp.windows.x.kde.
