use samba. Install it and set it up for your windows network . The newest
version of samba works like a dream. It now supports encrypted passwords, so
no registry changes are required anywhere anymore. Or else recompile your
kernel with support for WfW shares  , assuming you have a recent kernel. The
one i use - 2.3.25 has it  and i remember seeing it in earlier kernels as
well.
