files belonging to other users. This involves filesystem security
and will have to be enabled selectively. Try out the foll. step:
  Login as root and do a "chmod go= /home/*". This will not stop a
user from reading the /home directory, but stops him from reading
directories belonging to other users in the /home. You can try
fooling about with the read and execute permissions to get exactly
what you want....
  Also, try a "chmod go=x /home". This might be closer to your
expectations.
