Please search the Linux India archives (http://lists.linux-india.org/) for
long threads on this topic.  Breifly: if someone has physical access to
your machine they could do bad things (like pull the power cord out, throw
it from the 10th floor window, smash your monitor etc.) to it without
having to log into the machine.  A physically accesible machine can never
be secured via software.
