Kppp checks modem status before starting a connection. So if modem is connected
to COM3 (/dev/ttyS2) and modem device is defined as /dev/ttyS1 then it wouldn't
have started "pppd" .
Probably U R using a different (make/model) modem at home. In 'kppp', go to
'setup' and under Modem tab Press "Modem Commands" and "Query Modem" buttons
and post the responce.
I suspect Ur modem is not getting initailised properly for handshaking. If so
probably changing the Modem Initialization String might help.
