[LI] Remote login problem

I may be excused for the repetition.
Today after correction of various items as said in one of the pages by
one Mr.Hassan Ali in some LG, I tried for remote login. Still I am yet
to reach my goal.
Details are given below.
I have my PII with RH6.0 in my house and 486 with win95
in my office.
I have configured as below for setting up linux dailin
server.

In /etc/mgetty+sendfax/login.config file, I have
/AutoPPP/ - - /etc/ppp/ppplogin

In /etc/inittab file, I have
VI:2345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty -s 115200 -D /dev/ttyS1

I have pppd with suid. options file is as you have
told.
-detach
modem
lock
crtscts
asyncmap 0
netmask 255.255.255.0
proxyarp

options.ttyS1 is as follows.
lvghomepc.mvpvisakha:dgmpspc
where lvghomepc.mvpvisakha is host name and dgmpspc is
the name given to
my office pc.

my ppplogin file is as follows.
#!/bin/sh
mesg n
tty -echo
/usr/sbin/pppd silent auth -chap +pap login

my pap-secrets file is s follows.
# Secrets for authentication using PAP
# client server secret IP
addresses
"lvgandhi" * (password)
192.168.1.15
where (password) is actual password in quotes.

my hosts files is
127.0.0.1 lvghomepc lvghomepc.mvpvisakha
192.168.1.15 dgmpspc dgmpspc.mvpviaskha

I did initq and went to my office and started win95 and
made a dun
connection with server type win95 ppp ... and in Ip
address i gave
192.168.1.15. I dialed home. with terminal windows
after dial up I got
prompt as in linux box. I could ls. But files names
were with etc. ASCII
chars. I pressed for continue. It gave dialog that
verifying user name
and password. but nothing happens. If I don't give
terminal window
after dialup i get stuck with message that verifying
username and
password.
May be AUTOPPP is not working.
In my login.config file fido line is not commented.
Whether it will make
AUTOPPP not to work.
How to find whether AUTOPPP is complied
in kernel.

How to go about it?
