Hi all
         Since there's been a lot of queries regardin X configuration, heres
a "generic" fix that should work (it will make sure that startx doesn't die
out on you)
using a file editor Vi, joe or whatever.. make 2 files
a.) .xinitrc
b.) .xserverrc
The contents of the following files will be(enter xactly as displayed)
For .xinitrc 
RunWM.Fvwm95

For .xserverrc
XF86_VGA16

Now just install the XFree86 package from the Rpms folder from the linux
installation cd.
for Redhat 6 its  rpm -ivh XFree86-vga-3.3.3.1-49.i386.rpm
And fire startx....

NOTE:: This will not give u a desktop that u can impress win95 users with.
This will hower ensure that u r able to use x-applications.
Also some appliocations like Netscape might not work properly as they will
work only on a higher color depth that is not provided by this TRICK???!!!

IF Anyone can modify this to run KDE or GNOME instead of Fvwm pls let me
know
