I hope your brother knows how to use vi or a similar editor. Here is
the sequence of operations:
At lilo prompt, boot with:
linux init=/bin/sh (put name of your kernel instead of ``linux'')
On shell prompt:
mount -n -oremount,rw /
Edit /etc/passwd and remove everything between 1st and 2nd :
reboot. Now you have a null root password.
