LINUX 6.0.........

Hi all,

      I have an assembled PII multimedia pc with sis6326 display card &  a 
"SAMTRON 40bn",monitor the card gets configured correctly but the monitor 
has a bit of problem,when i start Xconfigurator the following error message 
is displayed "error: could not detect the monitor type",still when i give 
startx the gnome desktop appears but with bad display the windows get 
smudged up,charecters are not displayed in the windows....can any body tell 
which file i have to edit & what are the entries,please help me so that i 
will be able to use to its full extend,
