Ah, the "GUI-dependence syndrome". ;-)

mc is a Norton commander clone - hence the buttons down there are actually
Function key labels. So you hit F4 to activate button 4 (edit), etc.

If you are telnetted in, your function keys may not work (Windows Telnet sux
Ostrich eggs). So hit <esc>4 for F4 instead.
