2 nd CHIP CD

Hey any of you guys have loaded stuff from the 2nd CHIP CD when i try to
load TAR files with tar -xvzf file.tar an error message comes on says that
the file is invalid or something also some of the stuff is older than the
official RedHat 6.0 like MUTT
Have you loaded any thing 
Please let me know and if yes then how i go paranoid when the stuff does
not load
