Does SB16 have mixer support ???

Hello All,
        
        Does Sound Blaster 16 cards have mixer support? Fiddling with
the bass and treble controls of aumix(or any other sound mixer) have no
effect on the tonal quality of the music played. It is the same in win32
using the default drivers provided by Creative.

        However, when using the Xmms(X Multimedia system) mixer, i am
able to adjust the tone frequencies of MP3s and other audio formats. How
does Xmms do it - through software emulation ?

        Any thoughts ?
