load average, callback,.....

Dear friends
1.      How is this load average calculated ? Does it take into account
just
the processor usage or other things like memory usage ( swap space ),
accessng of the hard disk, etc. ?
2.      Me and a friend tried getting callback to work on a linux machine,
after we heard Dr. Sriram tell us about it at Chennai LUG. 
     After editing /etc/inittab, init says that the device is respawning
too fast. My idea ( stupid anyway ) was to try "init q", which of course
didn't work, though it did for me at home. Any pointers ? 
     The machine in question runs S.u.S.E 6.0 .
3.      Where can I get pppd for Sun OS ? Any ftp sites ?
4.      Does anybody know if XENIX ( for a 286 ) is available ? Just
barebones network support would do. How much space would it need ( HDD and
RAM ) ?
5.      Does anybody know if Iowa State Univ has a public access system
like Cyberspace or Nether.net ? Somebody hacked into my account at vsnl
students server and did some nasty things. Any info about the domains
isunet.net and iastate.edu, where the logins originated, would be
helpful.There seems to be no webmaster/root mailboxes there. I tried
nslookup ( set q=hinfo ) and got a mail address, but it bounced. Please
tell me if anybody has any info at all.
