gnome-problems

I have installed gnome from may 99 PCQ CD. I am unable to get gnome
control center. Nothing comes. Further I don't get desktops and i can't
reuse minimised windows as nothing appears in my panel.Most of the
utilities like clock doesnot work. I would like to be enlightened if any
body has correctly configured. I did
exactly as said in PCQ May 99. While installing i got msgs that it could
not remove directories usr/share/gnome/help, usr/share/gnome,
usr/libs/rhs/glint and usr/lib/mc/extfs. But for this, I didn't get any
other error msg. How to get full benefit of gnome.
