Did you checkout chklogs program. Its stated URL is
ftp.iaehv.nl:/pub/user/grimaldo/chklogs-1.8.tar.gz
After installing this, U can add a crontab entry like this:
00 22 * * * /usr/local/sbin/chklogs -m
This line should be cleaning up ur logs at 10.00 PM everyday.
