First: If you look at the obvious places you can find the following:
Network Audio Server or NAS in your installation. Relevent lsm entry:
Description: (Network Audio System)
The Network Audio System is a distributed sound system
which includes a server program (au) which can receive au=
dio
requests via TCP. Additionally, there are number of clien=
t
programs which can play sound files in various formats,
edit sound files, and convert sound files to different
formats.
Of course, a client library (libaudio.a) and header files=
are included for additional software development.
Binaries and RPM files provided by Jeremie Petit
(petit@xxxxxxxxxx) and coming with no warranty.
Keywords: nas, sound, audio, X11
Author: (Jim Fulton, Greg Renda, and Dave Lemke)
Maintained-by: nas-request@xxxxxxx (NAS mailing list)
Primary-site: ftp.x.org /contrib/audio/nas
594952 nas-1.2p5.tar.gz
Alternate-site: sunsite.unc.edu /pub/Linux/apps/sound
578514 nas-1.2p5-1.i386.rpm
Also there is another project called Enlightenment Sound Daemon under
Enlightenment at http://www.tux.org/~ricdude/EsounD.html for the beautifu=
l
sound apps in E although I do not know if it is similar to NAS.
