Sanjay,

As long as you have LILO installed and access to the console.

Follow these steps:

(a) Reboot your system.
(b) type 'linux single' on the LILO prompt. Assuming that 'linux' is the
boot image you use.
(c) Enter the maintenance mode with root privileges.
(d) Use passwd to change the password or edit the /etc/passwd file.

Of course, the solution has slight inconvinence of users having to log
out.
