help me problem with cdrom

Well I have installed linux from the pcquest cd and after the installation I load linux with the 
Loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3    command.
And after that when is say mount /mnt/cdrom it gives me this error
mount:fs type iso9660 not supported by kernel
I tried 
Modprobe isofs
But still my problem is unsolved
One more thing how do I start kde I have configured startx but how do I get the kde thing
