Hi,
I have a few problems in my installation of Linux, and I hope you all can
help me. I have a AMD K-6 266 with a 4.3 GB HDD and put a partition for
Linux; the other partition having 98. I Installed from the PCQUEST Red hat
5.2 version. Linux was installed as a workstation. Now there are a couple of
problems, for some reason, there are no HOWTO's there along with the instal
on my machine, it was my understanding that HOWTO's, Apache and a couple of
other services such as PHP were also installed; I don't have any of these.
Could there be some problem with the instal or do I have to do a custom
instal ?
Secondly, I am having a lot of problem installing XFree86. I have a ATI
Mach64GT 4 MB card and a ViewSonic monitor. The system after doing the
auto-probe is not able to detect the video ram, and whatever configuration,
I try, the xserver is not getting loaded properly. the mouse is there, but
the display is blurred with multiple occurences of the toolbar. I tried the
Linux documentation, ATI's web-site and various other online resources, but
no dice; so if anybody could give me some help, I would be very grateful. I
am in Chennai.
Regards,
Ashish
