True I guess - One wrong move and the whole system goes!!
Anyways, I have created the user acct and modified my .fetchmailrc
accordingly to fwd the mails to that account.
I have tried it out too and it works fine, now all the mails get fwd to
the user account.

But i would still like to know why inspite of not having DM entry in the
sendmail.cf why was it reflecting "root@xxxxxxxx"
