I think the parallel port on an INDY/IRIX conforms to the IEEE 1284
standard...So the standard defines what U can do with it...

But U will need the hardware details of the INDY to do anything...
U might try checking at www.sgi.com
Probably U could shoot a mail to the guys at SGI and try ur luck there!
Somebody there might just help you out with this!
