How small does it get after compiling and linked statically with 
stripped .notes .comments?

My constraint is not the RAM usage, its the disk size, its just 8Mb.

BTW, has anybody out here tried an Internal mode with Linux?
If yes, would like to get feedback regarding performance, ease of 
setup, etc...
