Why do you need to learn TCl/Tk for that?
Installing TCl/Tk is simple, just a few rpms (or a couple of compiles)
If they want you to learn the language to customise the editor, then
that is when you are coding. So you can either use the developers
language of choice, or write your own program.
For normal use, there should be no need to learn the programming
language.
