Setting Up a Dial-In PPP Server

OS - RH 6.2
Modem  - /dev/ttyS0 (COM1)
I have attempted to configure my box as a dial in ppp server as
follows:-

entry in /etc/inittab file
3:2345:respawn:/sbin/uugetty ttyS0 38400 vt100

I have a file /etc/default/uugetty.ttyS0
the ALTLOCK=ttyS0 entry in the file is made

Now I should be able to get my modem to auto answer an incoming call but
it doesn't
Anything that I could have missed out??
