In our case, it had once been the memory. Sometimes hidden in all the
mess during the installation abort, we could see the Oops dump of the
kernel. In such a case try searching for the keyword "process:
xxxx". In our case the process causing the kernel dump was kswapd, so
we figured it was either the disk or the memory. Since the disk was
formatted a number of times successfully, it couldn't have been the
disk. So, we changed the memory and it worked ...
