xdm on Debian

Hi all you Debianers out there,

I want to disable the xdm login at startup. ie I just want the plain ol text console. Now in RedHat, this amounts to just switching the default runlevel to 3. This does not apply to Debian though :(

So how do I do it? Do I have to manually remove the S99xdm link from /etc/rc?.d
