Thank you for your message.

I have been writing spread sheet / data base applications for self use
for some time and find the windows platform restrictive.Would also
like to write self diagnostic type applications for specific use in
engineering such as design and mock testing of analogue circuits which
again the windows platform in it's present form does not permit.

Need to explore the benefits of working with / adopting Linux but do
not know how or where to get started.Any pointers towards source
material and /or references towards familiarisation with Linux system
would be welcome and the effort genuinely appreciated.
