Mail download from Hotmail/Yahoo servers?

hi,
i work mainly with yahoo and hotmail on the net. mainly because i can check 
my mail anywhere anytime.
i was thinking if there was a way to use fetchmail to download the mail onto 
my local m/c and then use any of the cui mail clients to view reply /delete 
mails ?
i wonder if this is possible...
