what happens is



when we enter the shell level from kernal level 
it reads a file called .bash_profile which again reads

.bashrc which again reads  /etc/bashrc
what u do is just go to a line in .bash_profile
and see at the line  starting with path there between
$path and $home  put the following 
$path:.:$home/bin
then come out from the file and say exit and then
again login ur path is set and u can execute ur comman
