Re: LUG-C meeting

Hi,
About sundays - My personal preferences are saturdays, because I
would like my sundays to be free to do with it, what I want to.

About distributions: read the Distribution-HOWTO or whatever it
goes by the name of - "choosing a distribution" probably - IIRC it was
written by ESR - and then figure out which distribution ESR thinks you
will like best.

imho - you can't "tell" a person something like, "go, start using
<insert-favourite-distribution> here" - it doesn't work that way - for
someone that likes to experiment/poke around the box, (s)he will
automagically try installing everything and play around with just about
everything available, before deciding for oneself, which distribution that
they like - at one time, i hated debian - and now, i just love it - its
all a phase change kinda thing, imho -
preferences/style/requirements/taste varies with time/skill
set/expectations etc. - there are just *Way* too many variables to contend
with - i'm already kinda getting bored with (repeat, bored, not
dissatisfied - there's a subtle difference) debian - i wanna get outta the
shores, at i'm like looking at www.linuxfromscratch.org ... stuff like
that ... so its not like "go for rh" or "go for deb" ... its "go for
whatever your mind takes you to"

To this day - to anyone that asks me, as a newbie, about which
distribution to try out first - i always recommend slack, because imho,
thats where you *learn* stuff, as in you are *FORCED* to learn it - the
learning curve is much steeper - i personally despise slack just because
of the lack of package management thereof. you know .. yada yada yada ..
