Well, I did set up the share thinking maybe it was
necessary. That was because when I got there using the
publicised userid and passwd the files were _already_
missing/hidden. I did not hide them. That had already
been done. 

I'm sorry if the special share was a problem. I was
merely trying to access the books. I've removed the
share now.
