hi !
u can use fetchmail to retrieve the mails from the server and pine/elm to read
the locally fetched mails. let fetchmail run as a daemon in the background. for
more info see "man fetchmail". RHL 5.2+ also has a fetchmail configuration tool
that can be invoked from the control-panel.
